P307
A CASED PAIR OF HIGH QUALITY, SILVER MOUNTED FLINTLOCK OFFICERS PISTOLS BY KNUBLEY, LONDON. .68 cal. Half stocked with octagonal Damascus iron barrels with a gold touch holes, gold line at breeches, the makers name is inscribed on the barrels but is very faint, checkered walnut stocks mounted with engraved, hallmarked silver trigger-guards, silver buttcaps, forend caps, ramrod throats, escutcheons and barrel wedge plates. The very high quality locks are inscribed with the makers name and the pans are gold lined. One pistol has the barrel under rib slightly out of shape, hard to notice though, the same pistol has very small dents on the buttcap. Both pistol stocks appear to have been revarnished, but they look very good and both pistols have their original horn tipped ramrods. 10 ¾” barrels, 16 ½” overall length, excellent working order and condition. The green baise lined Honduras mahogany case has its original Knubley trade label, all partitions are intact, all lining is original but does have some small moth holes and a little staining and fading. The case has a brass carrying handle is complete and original in every way and still has it’s key. The accessories include a 3 way powder flask, a cleaning rod, a bullet mold, a spare mainspring and spare flints. This is a delightfull pair of pistols. Circa 1795.
