A Matched Pair Of W & J Rigby Percussion Pistols, serial no's 2726 and 2727. They have full walnut, checkered, fishtail butt stocks mounted with silver escutcheons inscribed with the owners initials, brass, engraved trigger-guards, damascus barrells with hooked breeches, engraved back action locks and blued swivel mounted ramrods. These pistols are in very near mint condition with no damage to the walnut stocks, the 4 3/4" barrells retain about 98% original brown finish, the bores are mirror clean, unfired, with case colours inside the breeches. the breech blocks have case hardening colours. 11 1/2" overall length, crisp working order and excellent condition.
These pistols are contained in their original mahogany, green baise lined case, complete with the original trade label for W & J Rigby. The lid is inlaid with a round brass escutcheon inscribed with the owners name, "B. L. Guinness. 1851." B. L. Guinness was the Lord Mayor of Dublin in 1851. The case is in excellent condition with only one very minor wear point and contains a very good but incorrect, bag type powder flask, brass mounted mahogany cleaning rod and ram rod, it also contains original old lead balls and paper cartridges. This is truly a great pair of pistols.
