A very beautiful brass barreled blunderbuss by Barbar, London. The barrel is long and slender (15 ¼”) with a cannon muzzle and 2 reduction rings along the length, it is inscribed London and has some engraving at the tang. The surface has a nice light age patina. The lock is the early type with no bridge connecting the frizzen to the pan, it is engraved with scrolls and a border and is inscribed Barbar. The brass furniture consists of the triggerguard with an early type leaf finial, an engraved buttplate, a fancy escutcheon and an engraved sideplate. The walnut stock has a nice patina and is in excellent condition. 31” overall length. This item is in excellent overall condition with only a small dent on the ramrod throat and some not very noticeable pitting on the barrel tang. Circa 1770.
