A very attractive Italian miguelet pistol. Has a walnut stock mounted with engraved brass and silver furniture, a very well formed ½ octagonal and ½ round barrel with brass and silver inlays at the breech end and the muzzle is capped with a brass device with acanthus leaf decoration. The brass furniture is very nicely engraved with acanthus leaf designs and is inlaid with a silver flame shaped device and consists of: a fancy triggerguard, a ramrod throat, a long eared buttcap, a large escutcheon and a large sideplate, 11 ½” overall length, 6” barrel. The stock has a well executed repair to the forend and a small section of the ramrod throat is missing. The ramrod is a well made replacement. Circa 1775.
