M1257. A SECTION OF WHALEBONE  WITH SCRIMSHAW SHIP SCENE. The scrimshaw work is very well done but not old.  It depicts depicts the whaler “ESSEX” under full sale. The “ESSEX” was rammed by a whale and sunk. This section of bone is 6” wide by 3 ¾” high. $575.
